Moving beyond literal depictions of Shikumen alleys or the Bund, BEI instead delves into the urban fabric and zeitgeist of 1980s Shanghai, channeling its essence through a deeply personal lens. His brush captures the flickering headlights at crossroads, the hazy silhouettes of street-side buildings, and the layered urban impressions filtered through memory and emotion.

This series epitomizes BEI’s signature poetic imagery aesthetic, effortlessly navigating between figuration and abstraction.
